Eat Comfortably and Smile Confidently with Snap-in Dentures

Are you tired of living without teeth or struggling with uncomfortable dentures? When you have lost one or a few teeth, visiting an implant dentist in Kalispell, Montana, is one of the best places to start. Advanced snap-in dentures at Alpine Family Dental make restoring your smile easier and more predictable. Unlike conventional dentures, snap-in dentures are secured in the mouth with dental implants—there’s no rocking, rubbing, or slipping because the implants keep your restoration secure.

What are snap-in dentures?

While conventional dentures are an excellent solution for missing teeth, they can be a hassle for the wearer. As your jawbone copes with tooth loss, dentures lose their stability and can become uncomfortable. Snap-in dentures placed by Drs. Even Olson and Autumn Chapman present a more reliable option to replace multiple missing teeth.

For these restorations, the dentist surgically places dental implants at precise locations in the jawbone. Snap-in dentures have special attachments called “locators” on the underside of the plate, which snap on top of the implants. This makes them more comfortable and stable when eating and speaking.

Snap-in dentures are removable, so their maintenance is similar to traditional dentures. Remove your teeth at night and soak them in a cleansing solution overnight. After every meal, clean your dentures with a soft-bristled toothbrush, and always brush/wipe your mouth before wearing your dentures.

How are snap-in dentures placed?

The treatment begins with a detailed examination using 3D CBCT X-rays. This advanced imaging helps the dentist assess the quality of your jawbone and detect any infections. It also provides precise guidance for your implants’ angle, depth, and placement. Thanks to modern techniques and advanced pain management, implant surgery is painless and smooth.

After the procedure, we’ll place a temporary yet functional denture on the implants to ensure you can still chew as your gums heal. Once healing is complete, you’ll return to our office to have a custom-fitted permanent denture attached to your implants. These dentures “snap” securely into place, restoring full function and stability.

What are the benefits of snap-in dentures?

Here are the benefits of snap-in dentures.

  • Stability: Traditional dentures are secured in the mouth with dental adhesives and natural suction. These mechanisms aren’t as secure, which causes your dentures to shift around when eating or speaking. Snap-in dentures are secured with implants anchored in the jawbone, providing a more stable and reliable solution for everyday use.
  • Easy maintenance: Overdentures are removable, making them easy to clean like traditional dentures. This feature benefits individuals with limited hand dexterity, such as seniors. Unlike fixed implant dentures requiring special flossing techniques, snap-in dentures can be easily removed for hassle-free cleaning.
  • Cost-effective: Snap-in dentures are more affordable than fixed dentures. Although four implants are typically needed to support the denture, the dentist can sometimes use as few as two implants per arch.
  • Bone preservation: Dental implants provide functional stimulation in the area placed, reducing jawbone atrophy.
