Enjoy teeth straightening treatment with clear aligners

A beautiful smile is not just white, but it is also straight and properly aligned. This is why many patients with imperfect smiles may want to ask our team about the benefits of teeth straightening treatments. When Kalispell, Montana, area patients think about teeth straightening, they often believe traditional metal bracket-and-wire braces are their only option. Fortunately, there have been advances in the field of orthodontia, and now patients can straighten their teeth with clear aligners instead!

What are clear aligners?

Drs. Evan Olson, Autumn Chapman, and Greg Eller describe clear aligners as transparent trays custom-made to fit over the patient’s teeth. These trays are made from a clear, lightweight plastic material and are virtually invisible when worn. The aligners work by applying gentle pressure to move the teeth into proper alignment gradually.

What are the benefits of using clear aligners as a teeth straightening treatment?

  • Discreet appearance. Clear aligners are practically invisible when in place, making them a solid option for patients who are self-conscious about wearing traditional braces. This is especially beneficial for adults who might be more hesitant to undergo orthodontic treatment due to the appearance of metal braces.
  • Removable. Unlike more traditional braces, these clear aligners can be removed for both eating and brushing your teeth. This means you can still enjoy all of your favorite foods and drinks without any restrictions and maintain good oral hygiene throughout your treatment.
  • Comfort. The smooth plastic material of clear aligners is more comfortable to wear than the metal wires and brackets of traditional braces. This means less irritation and discomfort for the patient.
  • Shorter treatment time. In some cases, clear aligners can straighten teeth faster than traditional braces. This is because the trays are custom-made for each patient and designed to gradually move their teeth into proper alignment.
  • Improved oral health. Crowded or malocclusioned teeth can be challenging to clean properly, leading to a much higher potential for tooth decay and gum disease. By straightening your teeth with clear aligners, you can improve your oral health and wellness and likely decrease the chance of developing these issues in the future.
  • Cost-effectiveness. Clear aligners may be a more cost-effective option than traditional braces, especially when considering the shorter treatment time and fewer required visits to the orthodontist.
